The Macau ESG Awards

On September 15, 2023, the France Macau Chamber of Commerce (FMCC) was pleased to announce the three categories winners of the Macau ESG Awards, revealed during a memorable evening at the FMCC Charity Gala Dinner 2023, at MGM Macau.

The Macau ESG Awards is FMCC’s milestone initiative designed to recognize exceptional contributions in the domains of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) within Macau, reflecting our Chamber’s unwavering commitment to nurture a sustainable future. The event market the inaugural presentation ceremony of the Macau ESG Awards.

The winners in each category are as follows:

[2023 Best NGO]

  • Winner: Macao IC2 Association

Established in 2016 with the meaning of “I can too,” IC2 is a non-profit organization based in Macau that promotes the rights of neurodivergent people. In the past 7 years, IC2 has conducted workshops, classes and visits to foster inclusive education, promote cultural exchange, and support individuals with special needs.

  • Winner: Zence Object Technology Ltd.

Zence Object Technology is an innovative company that is dedicated to solving global waste problems. They use technological innovation to transform various inconspicuous waste materials, such as bamboo, platy codon grandiflorum, tea residue, Chinese herbal medicine residue, and more, into genuine Eastern eco-friendly materials that are integrated into people's daily lives.

  • Winner: Sands China Ltd.

Sands China’s corporate responsibility platform represents their unique approach to addressing a large variety ESG issues that relate to their business, community and key stakeholders in format of one ongoing project with defined strategies for each platform pillar. The platform also displays their commitment to their people, community and planet.

 

Each winner was chosen after a meticulous evaluation process conducted by a panel of independent jurors: Dr. Jenny Guan, President of General Assembly of Macau Institute for Corporate Social Responsibility in Greater China, Prof. José Alves, Dean of Faculty of Business at City University of Macau, Ms. Ruby O, President of Society of Food & Environmental Health (Macao), Mr. Rutger Verschuren, Chairman of FMCC, Mr. Andrew W Scott, Vice Chairman and CEO of Macau CSR, who assessed the impact, originality, and effectiveness of the ESG initiatives.

The FMCC Charity Gala Dinner 2023 provided an ideal platform for the announcement of these prestigious awards, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and advocates for sustainability. The evening was not only a celebration of the winners but also a reflection of the collective commitment to responsible business practices and the betterment of our global community.

Mr. Rutger Verschuren, Chairman of the France Macau Chamber of Commerce, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the dedication to the principles of ESG by the winners and all those who submitted their nominations. He emphasized the vital role of these awards in driving positive change and fostering a more sustainable and responsible future, and closed by wishing that these awards will serve as an inspiration for others to follow.
