MECC 12th Anniversary Reception
On 28 November, FMCC attended the MECC 12th Anniversary Reception at the Macau Tower Ballroom in Sai Van. As one of the founding members of MECC, we celebrated the strong ties between Macau and the European business community, in the presence of diplomats and government officials from Macau and Hengqin.
Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr. Tai Kin Ip joined as Guest of Honour, alongside representatives from the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macau, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macau, and consular corps from various countries.
MECC's newly elected Chairman, Ms. Echo Chan spoke about the Chamber's role as a two-way bridge, helping European businesses explore opportunities in Macau and the Greater Bay Area, while supporting Mainland and Macau enterprises entering European markets. Mr. Harvey Rouse, Head of the EU Office to Hong Kong & Macau, noted that the EU is the third largest source of foreign direct investment and second largest merchandise trading partner for Macau, accounting for 26% of total trade. MECC's Honorary Chairman and Portugal's Consul General, Mr. Alexandre Leitão emphasized Macau's unique position as a platform for China-Europe exchanges and its potential in economic diversification and regional integration.
Over 120 guests from government, diplomatic, business and cultural sectors joined the reception, reinforcing Macau's position as a gateway for European enterprises entering the Chinese market.
